Fiber Cement Board is the workhorse substrate of the modern dry-construction envelope: a high-density panel of Portland cement, fine silica and cellulose fibre, pressure-formed and autoclave-cured into a dimensionally stable sheet that neither burns, rots nor feeds termites. Supplied in 6, 8 and 12 mm thicknesses on the standard 1220 × 2440 mm format, it moves seamlessly between internal partitions, false ceilings, ventilated façade cladding and tile-backer or flooring underlay — one board, specified four ways.

Unlike gypsum, fibre-cement holds its integrity through wetting and drying cycles, making it the default choice for wet areas, semi-exposed soffits and rain-screen build-ups where moisture and impact are facts of life. It is non-combustible to EN 13501-1 (typically classified A2-s1,d0) and carries an ASTM E84 Class A surface-burning rating, so it contributes nothing to fire load or smoke development in the assembly.

- ▸Cut by score-and-snap for straight lines, or with a dust-extracted diamond/fibre-cement blade; always wear FFP-rated dust protection.
- ▸Fix to timber or light-gauge steel framing at maximum 600 mm centres with corrosion-resistant fibre-cement screws or hot-dip galvanised nails.
- ▸Keep fasteners 12–15 mm from board edges and 50 mm from corners; leave a 3–5 mm control gap between sheets for movement.
- ▸For external cladding, install over a ventilated cavity with a breather membrane and flexible jointing to shed water.
- ▸Acclimatise boards flat and dry on site before fixing; store off the ground under cover, fully supported and protected from rain.

Yes. It is classified A2-s1,d0 to EN 13501-1 (non-combustible, very low smoke, no flaming droplets) and achieves a Class A surface-burning rating to ASTM E84. It contributes no fuel to a fire and is suitable for fire-rated wall and ceiling assemblies.
It can. Fibre-cement is moisture-proof and freeze-thaw stable, so it suits external cladding, ventilated façades, eaves soffits, bathrooms and tile-backer applications without swelling or rotting. For façades, install over a drained, ventilated cavity.
As a guide: 6 mm for ceilings, soffits and tile backer; 8 mm for general partitions, drywall and cladding; and 12 mm for flooring underlay and high-impact walls. Our technical team can confirm against your framing centres and loads.
No. It is 100% asbestos-free, manufactured from Portland cement, silica and cellulose fibre, and complies with the non-asbestos fibre-cement standards EN 12467, ASTM C1186 and ISO 8336.
Straight cuts are made by score-and-snap or with a dust-extracted diamond blade; boards fix to timber or steel framing with corrosion-resistant screws or galvanised nails at up to 600 mm centres. Joints are taped and filled with cement-based compound.
